Maya's First Birthday
NY City
Work sent me to NJ for a week, but the trip was worth it because I was able to spend a couple of days in NYC with my fabulous tour guides Rebecca and Jason! We had lots of fun people watching in the Village, and I enjoyed my last beer at a great dive Welcome to the Johnsons (set up like a late 70s early 80s basement). We finished the trip at the top of Rockefeller Center. Thanks for being such great hosts!
Mom and Dad's Visit
Mama and Daddy made their first trip out in 2 years, and Steve, Sampson and I took them to the one of the highest points you can drive to - Mount Evans at 14,130 feet above sea level. We had a really good 4th of July with them, and Sampson loved the extra attention! Erika, Jason and Adelaide were also in town over the 4th, and we really enjoyed spending time with them as well!

Southeast Tour April 2008
Next I went to meet our newest family member Nathaniel for his baptism. He is cuddly and adorable as I knew he would be. Rumor has it he is up in the 97% for height and weight...must take after his dad and Uncle Buddy! I had so much fun spending time with him and Kate, and loved catching up with the family at lunch after the baptism. After a few days of lounging around with the family and Heather, who I consider family, I headed up to North Carolina to spend the afternoon with Erika and Adelaide. Adelaide was delightful and a true sweetheart!
The next day we went out to Drea's favorite beach spot, Hammocks Beach. It's a state park that we hired a boat to get to. There were only 7 of us lounging on the island, and we were able to find a few whole sand dollars, take a cold swim, and soak up some sun. We even saw a deer and a snake on the island!

Desert Barrage!!!
Steve Belaying pitch 1.
After leading pitch 2, I show my aiding roots and opt for the pendulum swing instead of the 5.8 free climbers downclimb variation on pitch 3.
Here the tower gives some perspective. If you look close, you can see me at the first belay and Rob following.
Batman and Robin on the first and second belay.
Rob belaing the final third pitch.
After busting yet another summit chimney pitch, Brian pulls more than his weight and we celebrate another summit.
Rob and I share the view.
Now feeling really spent, we head into Moab for some Eddy McStiffs. After filling our gullets, we start making our way back, and hit river road to Fruita. We camp off the Colorado River, and have our coldest night yet before heading into the Colorado National Monument. Our final day, we persevere to get up Sentinal Spire via Fast Draw.
Rob on the rap to descend into the canyon.
Rob takes pitch 1, a 10 to 10+ off fingers bouldery start. 50-60 feet of Perfect hands follow.
Rob belays in the pod, with Brian following.
Brian takes on the final chimney pitch of the trip. This is actually the hardest chimney we climbed all trip long. Once again, Brian pulls his weight and gains the summit.
Our third summit in 3 days. Thanks Brian and Rob for being such solid partners. Can't wait for the next trip!
A final look before the trip home. Kissing Couple, Independence Monument, and Grand View Spire in the background.
